Alright! So you have found the perfect partner and crafted the perfect ring, but what is their ring size? Here are some tips and tricks to help you find the right size for when you get down on one knee.
Helpful tips on getting their size discreetly
- Does she have another ring? If so, you can measure that ring when she removes it at bedtime. This works best when the ring is already sized to her ring finger but will still work for rings on the other hand.
- Use her friends! Your strongest source may be the ones right in front of you. Family and friends may already either know her size or they may be able to assist you in tracking it down. For example, maybe have one of her friends can get her size while shopping together, her friend could simply say it's for a possible gift idea in the future.
- Make an educated guess: The most common ring size is somewhere between 5 and 7. Try comparing her finger to other women that have told you their size already. If you think they have similar hand sizes, then their ring size may be the same as well.
- Mission impossible style: (use at your own discretion) This method is a little bold, but it may be your saving grace. Try dental floss. I know it sounds silly, but it works! Simply wrap the floss around her ring finger when she doesn't notice (maybe when she is sleeping?), cut the string, and measure it with a measuring tape. The last step is to compare the length to the sizing guide and boom you got her size, “sort of”.
Measuring her size at home.
It may be best to just ask your partner for her ring size. She doesn't know when, how, or where you will propose to her, so the element of surprise is still there don't worry! However, below are some ways you guys can get the correct size together without much hassle.
- Get her ring size with a measuring tape: You can purchase a sewing tape meant for tailoring clothes and use that to measure the circumference of her finger. It shouldn't cost you more than 5 dollars and it's one of the quickest ways to get the right size. Note: make sure the measuring tape has millimeters, inches won't be precise enough.
- Use a ring sizing tool: You can find many kinds of ring sizers on amazon that are designed specifically for accuracy. This is a slightly pricier option, but it still shouldn’t break the bank.
- Visit one of our stores: Visit one of Dunkin's Diamonds' many Locations across Florida and Ohio and meet one of our ring specialists. Our in-house ring sizing specialists can guide you through the entire ring sizing process.
Pro sizing tip to maximize accuracy: No matter what method you choose, when you finally decide to measure her finger be sure you do so in the early morning. Fingers tend to swell throughout the day, depending on how much we eat and even changes in the weather. Furthermore, if you want to get the perfect fit be sure to measure a few times over the course of a few days. This will give you a more accurate read on your woman's finger. If her ring size fluctuates, try finding the average size throughout the measurements.
